The 3rd coordination meeting of project partners within the project “EAGLE” (Enhancing the Accommodation Generating Local Environment Pitomača- Pecs), which was approved for funding under the Cross-border Cooperation Program Interreg Hungary-Croatia 2014-2020, and began implementation on October 1, 2020 was held in the Municipality of Pitomača on July 29, 2021.
The meeting was organized by the Municipality of Pitomača, and in addition to Hungarian partner representatives Milan Kiss and Miklos Szenasi, the meeting was also attended by Croatian partner representatives – the Municipality of Pitomača (Mirela Tudić Rengel, Kristina Galjar and Marinko Barčan) and the Tourist Board of Pitomača (Ivona Pankaz).
The meeting discussed current and upcoming project activities and the obligations of each project partner. After the discussion, the partners agreed on the dynamics of realization and implementation of project activities.
To recall – the goals that the project will achieve are aimed at developing two interconnected visitor centres with a strengthened fully functional Hungarian-Croatian stakeholder network, as well as at permanent improvement and promotion of natural and cultural attractions through mentioned visitor centres.
The implementation of the project in the municipality of Pitomača will generate a new tourist destination Kladarski breg, and will consist of the construction of an 8-meter-high lookout with a wind-clapped (klopotec), the construction of a buried wine cellar and the reconstruction of typical Podravina eaves.
As for the Hungarian side of the project, a new visitor centre will be built with the content of flora and fauna of the Pécs area. The new facility will house an exhibition space, training rooms and other service spaces (offices, storage rooms, staff room).
